What it costs

Pile size

Fee

Under 3 cubic yards

Free

3 to under 10 cubic yards

$100

Over 10 cubic yards

$150

Each additional load

$150

A pile of exactly 10 cubic yards is not clearly covered by the county’s tiers, so ask Public Works. Payment is due in advance. The county page limits the free pickup to once every 90 days. The county code says one free pickup per quarter. Those two limits differ, so ask Public Works which one applies to you.

How to request a pickup

  1. Call 706-236-2495 or use the Citizens Request Center.
  2. A Public Works employee inspects the pile and estimates any cost.
  3. You get a pickup date. Collection is first come, first served.
  4. Place the debris only after the appointment is made.

How to stack it

These rules are for limbs and brush. For loose leaves on vacuum streets, ask Public Works where to rake them.

  • Pile it neatly behind the county right-of-way.
  • Keep it out of gutters, drains, walkways and roads.
  • Point the butt ends of limbs the same way.
  • Do not scatter the pile once it is placed.

The county page says to place debris on top of the curb or ditch. The county code says never in gutters or drainage ditches. Confirm placement when you book.

When a pile is not the problem

The county takes limbs, not hazards. A cracked limb hanging over the house or a leaning trunk needs a crew first. Do not cut storm-damaged trees yourself. For the fall check, see storm season tree care.
